Aquaterra 2009
Deltas and estuaries in the world are under increasing stress. Important ‘drivers’ in this are the impacts of climate change, the need for continuous, dynamic economic development, the demands of their increasing populations with their desire for welfare and wellbeing, and the need to safeguard the natural environment. For the entire conference programme overview, click here. Aquaterra 2009 is about the response of policymakers, designers, engineers, contractors and managers to these drivers. In Aquaterra 2009 we seek to capture successful practices in the sustainable management and development of modern deltas and estuaries, ways to strike the proper balance between the multitude of demands that these drivers impose.
